The establishment of Modern Model School goes back to my own personal experiences in life.

Born in a rural village in Kalikot district, I studied there during my early childhood. Unfortunately, the school shut down because a rebel group planted bombs at the school one day during civil war. Also, my home was bombed down by the security forces as the rebel forces made it their office. The civil war and the extreme violence impacted my life deeply, but my desire for education kept me alive each moment; I survived despite all dangers each moment.

Fortunately, I got a full tuition scholarship from a school in capital city, Kathmandu. Unlike other students in my village, I didn't have to join the rebel army or flee to Indian border for safety. My scholarship continued till high school, as I was topper in class each year. I had high hopes for life. However, in just a year, everything changed. My dreams fell apart.

During my 12th grade, my father was hit by a falling rock from th mountain when he was working at a construction site of a newly built highway. He passed away in 2 months. As I was recovering from a shocking grief, my mother was diagnosed with Rheumatic Heart Disease and she passed away in 6 months. My life faced the darkest moment of my life.

However, I was not defeated. Something inside me made me hopeful because I realized that I was born to contribute something to society. At the age of 18, I challenged myself to tackle every hurdle that came on my way.  I was awakened by the realities of death. I headed home to pursue the desire of my heart.

I headed home to make a difference. I wanted children in my community to be educated. I realized, not only my community, there were hundreds of other communities in our region that needed to be educated, and we should not just wait for someone else to come and make the change happen. Thus, using all available capablities and resources, we started Modern Model Residential School, a special non-governmental school dedicated to poor and disadvantaged children.

Now, after 4 years,we at Modern Model School have faced ups and downs. Time has played a lot of happy and sad games in our lives. However, our conviction have grown stronger. Day by day, our aim for educational revolution in remote villages in Nepal is growing stronger. Our kids who would otherwise be devoid of basic quality education and meals are now giving us a very good signal for future. This is continuously inspiring us to build a chain of many more Modern Model Schools.

Our villages will change, our students and our villagers will be the agents of change, and we will keep our promises to make educational revolution happen in remote villages of Nepal. I am proud of all our staff, parents and supports for brining us this far. Cheers!
